On the left side of the current Hotel Bernini, between souvenir shops and leather goods that abound in the street, a sign draws the attention of everyone who wants taste the pleasures of Florentine and Sicilian cuisine, in this delightful corner of ancient Florence. The restaurant has always maintained a appreciated gastronomic level as evidenced by the various awards obtained over the most recent years and exhibited in the restaurant.
On July 16, 1986, Ms Maria Ermini took over and today, for over 30 years, she has been offering the Visitor, in an original setting, in one of the most suggestive corners of the city unique in the world, the pleasure of good Tuscan or Sicilian cuisine served with affability and courtesy.
How it all came to be…
The bottom of the present restaurant was originally a marble warehouse. The building, which today appears outside in the forms assumed in the nineteenth century, stands on the remains of ancient fifteenth-century buildings owned by the Peruzzi family.
The trattoria, with its remarkable cross vaults, frequented in ancient times by the noble Florentine families (Peruzzi and their guests), was convenient and appreciated by the senators of the short period of Florence Capital and by artists who, sadly, stared at they are the images of Florence that was disappearing under the picks (Telemaco Signorini).
